Having a game plan is always a good thing in an individual’s life. If it is learning how to save money or setting up a life insurance policy for a loved one; having peace of mind can improve mental health. Why would this not be any different in all aspects of life? Especially in this day in age, so much has been reported on the news. Have you wondered what would happen if a disaster occurred? Have you ever thought of how you, your family or friends would have enough food, water or first aid? F = Food (i.e. water, meats, vegetables, fruits, emergency food, etc.) R = Repair (i.e. first aid kits, tools, water filters, survival book guides, etc.) E = Electricity (i.e. power generators, hand crank devices such as lighting, etc.) S = Shelter (i.e. tents, homes, etc.) H = Heat (i.e. blankets, stove, etc.) Of course this is just an idea on ways to help prepare you and your family. Some people also look for renewable energy such as solar or wind power electricity. Basically, start out with a budget that focuses on emergency preparedness. Start out with the necessities needed. The FRESH concept may help you remember what basic necessities you may need. Next, analyze your surroundings. Do you live in a flood, hurricane, tornado or earthquake zone? Do you have a strategy in place? Also, if the electricity went out, how would you generate power to turn on a light or even listen to the radio for any emergency messages? Getting a game plan together can help alleviate stress if there was an unfortunate event. Prepare in all aspects of your life and your loved ones life.
